Mat Beck: President
Mat Beck, ASC is a visual effects supervisor, cinematographer and director, known for his work on over 50 feature films and numerous TV shows, commercials and music videos.
Notable films include classics such as Titanic, The Abyss, Moonstruck, The X-Files, True Lies, Galaxy Quest and The Nutty Professor among others. Since founding Entity FX in 2002, Mat has supervised visual effects for such film projects as Miami Vice, Scary Movie 4, Hitch, The Aviator, Spiderman 2, Herbie: Fully Loaded and Sweet Home Alabama. He is currently working on two upcoming feature films: The Air I Breathe and Into the Wild.
On the television side, Mat has produced and executive supervised all the effects in four seasons of WB’s hit series Smallville and for Touchstone’s Night Stalker series as well as the pilot for WB’s Supernatural - all in High Definition. Other recent work includes HBO’s Six Feet Under as well as commercial spots for NHL, Avon, Prilosec, Goodyear, Heiwa and Century 21.
Mat has extensive experience with visual effects cinematography including miniatures, high-speed, aerial and bluescreen.
He is also an experienced second unit director; he has successfully directed a number of key action sequences with principal talent for Smallville, most recently the Clark Kent missile climbing sequence and the Kal El flying sequence.
His visual effects work for HBO’s Band of Brothers received an Emmy nomination, and this year he is nominated for a VES Award for his work on Smallville.
Mat’s educational background is in computer software and hardware development, physiological psychology, film theory and photography.
Mat is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Visual Effects Society as well as the International Photographers, Local 600 (DP), the Director’s Guild of America and the Writer’s Guild of America.

Kymber Lim: Executive Producer
Kymber Lim brings over fourteen years of production experience to Entity FX, having produced visual effects for television, commercials and films as well as producing videos and digital content.
As Executive Producer, Kymber oversees all film, television and commercial projects. Recent projects include Into The Wild, Air I Breathe, Miami Vice, Scary Movie 4, Smallville TV series, the Aquaman TV pilot, Fight Science pilot and national campaigns for NHL and Powerade. She also manages the bidding of all projects and plays a key role in the development and growth of the company as well as being a key liaison with clients and artists.
Previously as Head of Production and Senior Visual Effects Producer, Kymber produced such feature films as Herbie: Fully Loaded, Aviator and Spider-Man 2. She also produced and oversaw four seasons of visual effects for the CW’s television series, Smallville, and TV pilots such as ABC’s Traveler and CW’s Supernatural.
She began her career in visual effects working on the largest and most technically challenging format, 70mm stereoscopic IMAX 3D. Since then, as a freelance visual effects producer, she has produced visual effects for The Ring and The Mexican, and coordinated such projects as MI:2 and Vanilla Sky.
Kymber has always had a strong interest in production and technology. Her first job was as an associate producer, producing over 55 videos and commercials in 18 months. Kymber then moved onto coordinating and producing digital and interactive media titles where her work ethic and commitment to producing quality titles enabled her to produce six titles in four years and garnered her an award as one of the top media producers by Multimedia magazine in its annual review.
Kymber received her B.A. in Radio/Television/Film from California State University, Northridge and is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Visual Effects Society and Women in Film.
Ellyn Lewis: General Manager
As General Manager at Entity FX, Ellyn Lewis is a part of the company’s senior executive team, contributing to the maintenance, growth and financial stability of the company. She also oversees the well-being of the company’s staff employees and manages the day-to-day facility operations of the company.
Ellyn brings over 12 years of experience in a variety of Entertainment companies. Before landing at Entity FX and assuming the General Manager position in 2005, she was the CFO of a video production and distribution company for three years.
She began her career in the Entertainment Industry as the office manager of a radio commercial production company. While there, she honed her skills as an accountant and operations manager. Over the years, Ellyn has held Controller positions at an Audio Post Facility, a Commercial and Film Production Company and a Music Video Production Company.
John Wash: Visual Effects Supervisor
John Wash’s lifelong passion for movie making began in earnest at USC’s School of Cinema/Television. While studying at USC, his animation work was screened at the inaugural Los Angeles Film Festival, and won awards in international competition. John created animated graphics and visual effects for John Carpenter and Dan O'Bannon's cult classic, Dark Star, while attending USC.
After graduating, Wash was approached by fellow USC graduate George Lucas to design and produce graphic animation for a science fiction project he was working on. During the production of Star Wars, John utilized CG imagery for the first time, using the Scanimate analog computer to produce an animated display of the Death Star.
In 1979, John established his company, Motion Graphics, which designed and produced graphic animation for The Thing, Escape From New York, Cloak & Dagger, Halloween III and numerous TV commercials.
In his successful career, Wash has worked on over 40 projects, supervising visual effects work on films including The X-Files Movie, Volcano, One Fine Day, Dusk 'Till Dawn, Switchback, Patriot Games, Free Willy, Demolition Man and Clear & Present Danger.
John has been a visual effects supervisor with Entity for almost six years. He is currently the on-set supervisor for the Smallville series, where his hard work, creative eye and calm approach to problem-solving have made him instrumental in the show’s success. His work was recently nominated for a VES award in the category “Outstanding Visual Effects in a Broadcast Series”.
Wash is a member of the Visual Effects Society, and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Eli Jarra: Visual Effects Supervisor/Lead Compositor
Eli has worked as a visual effects artist on over 50 projects ranging from feature films to High Def and standard television. Some of his most recent effects work includes Miami Vice, Hitch, Herbie: Fully loaded, Spiderman 2, Vanilla Sky, Not Another Teen Movie and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. He's also worked as the on-set VFX Supervisor for the movie Hitch.
For the past three years, Eli has worked with Entity FX as a VFX Supervisor and lead compositor for Touchstone’s Nightstalker, CW’s Supernatural pilot, and five seasons of CW’s Smallville. Eli’s work on Smallville won two VES Awards, one for "Outstanding Compositing in a Broadcast Program" and the other for "Best Matte Painting in a Live Action Broadcast Program".
Eli is an important resource for Entity FX. He is involved with all Entity FX projects and is integral to the company because of his experience, technical expertise and his commitment to excellence.
Eli graduated with a degree in broadcasting from Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts. He is a member of the Visual Effects Society, S.P.E.C. an Inferno artist's special interest group, The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and The Planetary Society.
Trent Smith: Senior Producer
As Senior Producer, Trent oversees the VFX production of numerous television, film, commercials, and special interest projects. With over six years of visual effects experience, Trent brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as well as creative solutions needed in a fast pace environment. His attention to detail and storytelling with great communication with clients and artists allows him to easily take a project from concept to final delivery.
On the television side, Trent oversees all the digital effects for the CW’s Smallville. He has also worked on HBO’s Six Feet Under, CW’s Supernatural, and managed over 100 VFX shots on CW’s Aquaman pilot. On the feature film side, Trent has worked on films including Herbie: Fully Loaded and Spider-Man 2.
Trent came to Entity FX from Paramount Television and Touchstone Television. Previously at Pixel Envy, Trent assisted on set and coordinated numerous music videos for Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Tool, Aerosmith, Goo Goo Dolls, and Alanis Morissette. He also worked on set on the television series Lone Gunman and X-Files as well as Steven Spielberg’s miniseries Band of Brothers for HBO. On the feature film side, he worked on The New Guy, The Sweetest Thing, Tuck Everlasting, and also worked on commercials for Jeep and Nike. Before Pixel Envy, Trent was at Fortress Films’ working on B-17s Flying Legends where his work included set supervision and web content.
His interest in visual effects was initially inspired from working at Shortends, a production company specializing in short promos.
Todd Daugherty: Head of Technology Todd Daugherty has helped architect technical infrastructure at many of the top visual effects and post-production companies in Hollywood. Motivated to contribute to the production of images he'd want to watch himself, he has supported a range of motion picture and television productions -- including such films as The Day After Tomorrow, iRobot, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Peter Pan, Men in Black II, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Scooby-Doo, leading facilities and artists to adopt best tools for software, hardware, networking, servers, storage, render pipelines and more.
Todd's notable contributions include orchestrating HD capture workflows, building out networks and supporting high-end compositing and visual effects technology at Digital Domain; managing computing, storage and rendering resources for proprietary software and third-party development at Rhythm & Hues; introducing digital intermediate film-out workflows at Imagica in Los Angeles; and developing SAN, playback and other I/O systems for Technicolor Creative Services in Hollywood. His deep knowledge of computer platforms, operating systems and the specific demands of visual effects and post production is also backed by systems engineering work for studios such as Xaos, Blue Shift and Blur.
