Entity Helps Give Life to The Air I Breathe

April 30, 2007

Leading film, television and commercial visual effects company Entity FX announced completion of visual effects for The Air I Breathe, a new theatrical feature starring Academy Award® winner Forest Whitaker and debuting at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival. Highlighting a run of recent motion picture work, Entity FX collaborated closely on the project to realize the vision of the film's director, Jieho Lee.

The Air I Breathe centers on an ancient Chinese proverb that life is based on four emotional pillars -- happiness, pleasure, sorrow and love. Four intertwined stories -- a businessman (Forest Whitaker) who bets it all on horses, a gangster (Brendan Fraser) who can tell the future, a pop star (Sarah Michelle Gellar) who gets caught up with a crime boss (Andy Garcia), and a physician (Kevin Bacon) who must save someone dear – are played out with an all-star cast.

77 visual effects shots crafted by Entity FX enhance the dramatic storytelling with invisible tweaks and greenscreen composites to support critical action points and help set the mood. The work also features a photorealistic CG butterfly, animated and integrated in key scenes.

"As an independent filmmaker, you face certain limitations but you never want to limit yourself visually," said Jieho Lee, director. "Entity FX helped us create the movie we wanted, providing us with solutions that only enhanced the vision of the film and never took the easy way out. It was invaluable to have this level of visual effects expertise and collaboration available to our production, and I look forward to working with the Entity FX team again."

"So many good stories are being told in independent film," commented Kymber Lim, Executive Producer, Entity FX. "We've enjoyed applying our background in high-quality, fast-turnaround visual effects production to build relationships with directors and help bring their visions to the screen."

Entity FX additionally contributed visual effects for 2007 Tribeca Film Festival selection West 32nd, helmed by Michael Kang, and is currently in production on Sean Penn's Into the Wild. An Asian drama, West 32nd follows an ambitious laywer (John Cho) in the gritty Korean underworld of New York. Into the Wild is a cinematic adaptation of the best-selling Jon Kraukauer book.
